CoolSculpting Q & A

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved body contouring technique that uses radiofrequency energy and negative pressure to both destroy adipose (fat) tissue and contract the skin.

The procedure is non-invasive, meaning it doesn’t require surgery, stitches, or extensive downtime to produce significant results.

After Coolsculpting treatment at Brooks Dermatology, you get a tighter body that you can’t wait to flaunt.

What areas can be treated with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting works well on sculpting fatty tissue in body areas that are resistant to fat loss by conventional diet and exercise. These include:

  • Abdomen
  • Chin
  • Neck
  • Bra bulge
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Flanks (love handles)
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks (banana roll)

You get long-term results without having to undergo invasive surgery. Talk to your specialist at Brooks Dermatology about the areas on your body that you’d like to slim down. They can help you determine if CoolSculpting is the right treatment for you.

What can I expect with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting uses deep tissue heating and suction to contour your body. The radiofrequency (RF) energy passes through your dermis and heats your underlying fat. As a result, the fat cells are damaged and the skin tissues contract. A vacuum and controlled energy pulse work to tighten skin and contour your frame.

The RF energy doesn’t harm your outer layer of skin; it only targets unwanted fat cells. The heat disrupts your fat cells, leading to their demise. Your body flushes out this fat naturally over time, so you look more contoured.

During your CoolSculpting session, you’ll feel some warming and a gentle pull as the radiofrequency energy and vacuum work to smooth out unwanted pockets of fat. Most people tolerate the procedure quite well.

How do I prepare for my CoolSculpting session?

To be considered a candidate for CoolSculpting, it’s best if you’re near or at your ideal weight. While the treatment isn’t a weight loss substitute or suitable for tightening loose skin, it can help you achieve a more toned body.

To help flush out your fat calories, don’t eat for two hours before your treatment. You’ll also want to refrain from eating for about two hours following treatment. Drink plenty of water on the day of your scheduled session.
